A certain hunger
"The poem depicts hunger as something far beyond food- more like a restless yearning that lives in the body and mind at once. The imagery of biting and searching brings urgency and rawness, yet it also feels deeply human."

There's a certain hunger
In the pitch black space
Of my still beating heart.
There's a certain hunger
For things I want but I can't have,
For things I have but I can't see,
For things I don't have and I can see.
There's a certain hunger
A passion that bites
Bites the rotten apple of my dreams,
Bites a wish frozen in the arctic ice.
There's a certain hunger
It makes me want to devour the world,
Feel it in my stomach
Let it fill me until I throw up.
There's a certain hunger
I feel it in my stomach, it aches
It makes me wander for miles,
Searching for the perfect taste.
There's a certain hunger
That makes me want to chew the world,
Eat it with the fury of a starving child
So I can feel my fingers
Finally touching life.
